Recently I have noticed a clever new twist on traditional finger food & canapés and desserts – small bites presented in small container or shot glasses. Presentation is unique and it is practical to eat at a reception or parties where guests are mainly standing up. Small skewers can be served in the glass filled with some dipping sauce. Prawn cocktails can served with a small black spoon inserted.
I like this idea and am going to try some out initially for a children’ party coming up.
Apart from the obvious jelly, there will be cocktail sausages dipped in roasted pepper dip, honey & soy chicken skewers, strawberry & marshmallow skewers – all to be served in small glasses. I am sure it will appeal to Olivia’s little guests tremendously. Especially for a children’s party this kind of buffet will stay tidy and will require almost no attention from the host.
For my “grown up” clients, will it be a corporate reception or private birthday event, I have been thinking up other small delights which will make an appealing and novel highlight to any celebration.
A Summer sample menu could read like this for an event of 10 people onwards.

There are more canapés on my Corporate Lunches site, so you can combine easily with other finger food or look at my dinner parties for further inspirations. You are never alone though I am happy to create your own bespoke catering plan that suits your budget, location and the mood of your event.
Working seasonally & locally I prefer not to have set pages for services I create, but encourage conversation with my clients. Your wishes are my command. Enjoy!
